Enjoy Japan In Phoenix
This peaceful and beautiful Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix features over 1,500 tons of hand-picked rock, stone footbridges, lanterns and over fifty kinds of plants, including 2 kinds of bamboo. Designers selected plant species which will withstand the pains of a desert setting. 1,500 tons of rock handpicked from quarries close to Jerome, Superior, Congress and Florence line the stream beds, walking paths, lake shore and main lake falls.

The garden, also known as Ro Ho en, is made from 3 Japanese words. Ro means Heron, a bird symbolic of Himeji town. Ho stands for the town of mythological Phoenix bird while en means garden. The Japanese relationship Garden sponsors authentic tea ceremonies for the general public on the second weekday of every month that the garden is open. It operates Tuesday through Sunday. The times: weekdays: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. & weekends: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Visit the beautiful Valley Garden Center
The valley Garden Center was incorporated on July 11, 1939. In December 1946, a lease was signed with the city of Phoenix Parks Board for a strip of land in Encanto Park on 15th Avenue, bounded by Coronado and Holly Streets, for 99 years at a cost of $1.00 per annum. In January 1948, the rose garden was established between Palm Lane and Holly Street. The valley Garden Center building was started in July 1948, and was completed and dedicated in January, 1949. The building and courtyard Gardens are situated on Fifteenth Avenue between Coronado Street and Palm Lane.

The garden offers a beautiful setting that is often used for events. It offers great facilities at reasonable rates, entry is free.
